Balscadden   1      Skerries Town 3

With the loss of their defender Benjamin Guildea, Skerries had to start the last match of the season with only 8 boys. Their job was made even harder when Balscadden took the lead in the first half.

However, Skerries dug deep to put in a great performance to end the match and the season with 9 men.

Right from the kick off Balscadden meant business & kept the Skerries defence of Brian Winters & Eoghan O Hanlon very busy. Also, but for a fine save from the Skerries keeper Luke Breen, Balscadden would have been ahead very early on. But the Skerries keeper could do nothing to stop Balscadden from scoring mid way through the first half.

A shot into the box was cleared by Skerries, but resulted in a Balscadden corner. The corner was floated into the box & it was knocked in from close range.
This only served to awaken the Skerries lads, who pushed for an equaliser from the restart. Similar to the Balscadden goal, Skerries won a corner after a dipping shot by Jack Pender was pushed over the bar by the Balscadden keeper.

Robert Clintons corner was collected by Nail Daly just inside the box. Nail took one touch to set up the ball & the second to send it into the back of the Balscadden net 1-1.

Skerries carried the momentum into the second half knowing that nothing but a win would give them any chase of winning the league and they were rewarded their second with a move taken from the training ground.
A goal kick from Luke went straight to Andrew Kavanagh. Andrew spotted Robert, who had made space for himself at the half way line, & with a pin point pass, laid the ball at Roberts feet. Robert took the ball to the right hand side of the area, bringing with him the Balscadden defence. With the keeper also advancing on Robert, he slipped the ball to Nail who had made the same run to the left hand side. Unmarked, & with an open goal, Niall tapped it in to round off a fantastic Skerries team manoeuvre.
The game was wrapped with a typical Robert Clinton goal. Robert meet a pass from midfield, just

outside the box, & it had goal all over it as soon as it left is left foot.

The game finished 1-3 to Skerries.
