Skerries Town Football
Club was founded in 1990 following the amalgamation
of Skerries United, a club catering for senior players and Home Celtic
United a schoolboy/girl club. Skerries United had been in existence since
1946 while Home Celtic United was founded in 1982. The first Chairman of Skerries Town FC was Brian McDonough who served
from its inception until 1998. The first President was Gerard (Chad)
Duff who served from1990 to 1999.  On 27th April 1997 Skerries Town opened its new clubhouse at Park Lane.
The official opening was performed by the then President Mary Robinson.
In the same season 1996/97 Skerries Town was awarded the Leinster Senior
League’s "Most Progressive Club of the Season" award. The season 2002/03 will be remembered for the Club’s exploits
in the FAI Cup. Skerries beat League of Ireland team Monaghan United
in round 2 at Park Lane to the delight of over 700 home supporters. Skerries
Town’s interest ended in round 3 when Bohemians won 3-0 at Dalymount
