Introduction
Skerries Town FC Kids Academy hopes to reach as many children as possible. The Academy providers football coaching for the 5, 6 and 7 year olds from Skerries and the surrounding areas. It runs from September to December and February to April at the Skerries Town Clubhouse each Saturday from 10am until 11.30 am.

A subscription of €4 per week helps fund the purchase of the necessary equipment and provide refreshments for players. Parents and friends are most welcome to view the coaching sessions while enjoying a free cup of tea in the Clubhouse.

Each session is delivered by a team of 3/5 highly qualified coaches who provide a programme specific to the needs of the children involved.

Aims / objectives

• To create and maintain positive links with the local community
• To create as many opportunities as possible for children to play football
• To give opportunities to children regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, age or ability
• To promote the health of children through exercise education and fun
• To develop the skills of young football players at grass roots level

Initiatives

Currently the Kids Academy is provided weekly coaching to about 40 children.

The scheme is expanding and the 2004/2005 season will see the introduction of:

• Academy extending into the Community
• Girls coaching programme
• Easter Camps
• Indoor Camp over Christmas and Easter

The Skerries Town FC Kids Academy will provide a pivotal link between the football

club and the local community. By creating such a link with the local children and

estates, in the Skerries area which the club is situated and originated from,

Skerries Town FC is able to give an opportunity to children to get involved in football.
